I liked the idea of creating a Bucket List for the year, rather than a Resolution's list. Here is my 2024 Bucket List, and below is the descriptions for each one. I'd love to hear from you on what is on your bucket list for the year!
Learn a new skill
Do 1 new thing
Read 100 books
Take a Trip
Try a new recipe
Hiking Adventures
Be more involved with friends
Better my Work time-management
More Date Nights
Move Further in Adoption Process
Last year I crocheted a temperature blanket using the average High temperature of each day and assigning a color to a range of numbers. It was a lot of fun and I learned a lot about the craft and techniques. This year I am looking to maybe learn more about sewing or playing piano. I've always wanted to know how to play the piano and I received a sewing machine for Christmas a few years back and am just now looking into how to use it and the hope is to eventually make my own clothing.
1 new thing, as in any new thing, it seems like such a simple task, but then I start thinking about it... How big of a thing am I thinking? How much commitment can I/do I want to invest in whatever new thing it is? I guess I did a few new things in 2023 like: become a ministry lead at church, making a blanket, going to new places, trying new activities. I am capable of doing new things.
Last year I made it a goal to read more books. With the addition of an up-to-date library card I was able to read 92 books! Making me believe I am perfectly capable of adding just a few more to read an even 100 in 2024. I'm not being a stickler on the type of book. Be it an audiobook, eBook or an actual, physical book, I'm making it to 100 for sure!
We have been super fortunate the last few years to take trips during the year. 2019 included our honeymoon and a trip to Colorado. 2020 didn't take us far but we travelled up to Northern Michigan a couple times, Ohio to visit my grandparents. 2021 was a little of the same with a few beach trips all year long. 2022 we went to Disney World with Chris' family and 2023 we flew out to California. We've briefly brought up some sort of babymoon, but we'll have to wait and see
This is the easiest for me to check off. I love finding new meals and treats to whip together. It's fun trying different flavors and dishes and it's even more fun when it becomes a favorite!
I love nature, peaceful waters, calm snowy scenes and trees blowing in the breeze. I want to hike more. I think it'd be something Chris and Loki would enjoy too. So my goal is to find a handful of new trails and go exploring.
At the end of 2023, I realized how much I had missed girl's night. The support and love I feel from my friends when we are together is so beautiful, but I also want to challenge myself to be more intentional outside of those evenings together. I want to be a better friend and to love those wonderful and unique ladies in the ways they need to be loved!
Whether I'm cleaning houses/businesses or planning lessons and dreaming up ways to better the Children's Ministry at church, something I want to focus on this year is time-management. Becoming better at being productive, while also not getting lost in my work. I want my work to shine because of who I am, not just simply from what I do.
Chris and I derailed in 2023 from our consistency with date nights. But we are already getting back on track for at least once a month to start. We value that time away together and really want to maintain that habit after having kids.
And speaking of kids... We are most excited about moving forward in our adoption journey. There's a lot to be done, but we have no clue how fast things will progress and are extremely excited for how that could look in 2024
