Revamp Your Space with These Post-Holiday Home Decor Ideas

Christmas and New Year's celebrations are over and it is time to put all of that beautiful holiday decor away. But for the last month or more you've lived in decoration chaos, if you will. So many little knick-knacks and giant trees. You've also been making memories with crafts, baking, games and activities all holiday long!

I have a few tips on how to revamp your home with some easy home decor ideas and methods:

Keep it Clean- having less stuff around means that there is less to clean up at the end of the day. I'm not saying you have to go Minimalist in January all to pile the stuff back up by June, but really analyze what is truly needed. You could also make a monthly sweep of the house and donate, trash or sell 25 items each month.

Keep it Cozy- I love keeping blankets, candles, and books in my main living space. It add that cozy vibe to a room or space and I find I am less stressed when I have coziness around me. Pour yourself a cup of coffee or tea and snuggle into the cozy atmosphere.

Keep it Calm- wall color, lighting, and the sounds in our spaces can make or break it. I like warm and soft colors for any room, but especially the spaces I spend most of my time, when I am at home. The same goes for lighting, I have never been a fan of the fluorescent bulbs. If your warm lights aren't brightening up your particular space, use a lighter and brighter (not necessarily bolder though) color of paint for your walls.

Keep it Cheery- no one likes a stale room, stay away from the sterile hospital vibe. Again this means using warmer lighting options, but it also means adding fun or colorful pops of art to a wall or two. The same can be done with throws, coffee table decor or rugs. Darkness is depressing, so I open up our curtains during the day to let in natural light as well.

Keep it Casual- there's no need to busy up you space too much either, we don't want people thinking they entered a hoarders home. Limit yourself on how many knick-knacks you put out, a good rule of thumb is no MORE than 3 items on any given surface area.
