We have a decent amount of storage in our kitchen, but we also love to cook and bake and so our kitchen equipment accumulates and takes up a good portion of that lovely storage. It also made it really easy to start throwing any new item where it would fit. We also have a narrower pantry and refrigerator and finding the space to store groceries has been an adventure.
But I have some tips on how we've maximized our kitchen space and maybe give you some ideas on how to implement these tips into your own kitchen space.
BINS: you don't need to break the bank, I have found many useful bins at the dollar tree. I use them to organize our pantry, fridge and drawers.
FLOW: what is the flow of your kitchen, think of various different times you'd be in the kitchen, which counter are you using to prep food, where will your glasses, plates and silverware be located, putting your spices in a cupboard near the stove etc.
FUNTIONALITY: how do your appliances function? I keep our kitchen aid on our countertop in the corner so for me it made sense to store it's attachments and other baking utensils in the cupboard underneath that corner. I also keep my pots, pans, cooking sheets and oven mitts all near the stove.
LABELS: Labeling helps everyone know where things belong. I've labeled shelves in our pantry and fridge: Grains, Cooking, Snacks, Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Backstock, Canned Goods, Spreads etc. I also have our bins labeled too to make unloading groceries easier.
