Chris and I enjoy a game night, whether it's with friends and family or just the two of us. I am also not one for complicated games, so the games I'm about to share are great for people who can't stand playing games with confusing rules/playing tactics.
1. The Game of LIFE
It's a throwback, but this game is even more fun when played as an adult, with adults! If you've never played: You pick a car and a colored peg-person, choose whether you go to college or start a career and make your way through "life" You can pick up pets, friends, get married, have kids, go through a mid-life crisis and more!
The person with the most money at the end of life is the winner (but if you get the newer version, having more people in your life helps you win too, which is a nice touch!)
2. Trivial Pursuit
I thought I'd hate this game, particularly with the history and science questions, but it's actually really fun and you learn new things!
The first person to collect every categories colored wedge in their wheel-pawn wins the game
3. Chronology
You don't have to know the exact year to build a timeline with this super fun card game! This is another one that when we've introduced it to people, they are hesitant to knowing historical facts and building up a timeline of 10 cards to win. But it is truly just a guessing game, and another one that you learn fun and interesting facts.
4. Aggravation
Chris grew up playing this game with his family and it is one that I have fallen in love with as well over the years.
Get all of your colored balls around the board and into their home base.
5. Blockbuster
Get into teams of 2 and party like it's the 90's, 'cause we are going back to the video store. Each team starts the round with 1 player from each team going head-to-head naming "movies that have_____ in them." The last person to answer before the buzzer goes off gets to pick their movies first.
They select 6 and pick the 3 movies they want their team to guess, the other 3 automatically goes to the other team. Place your 3 movies into 3 parking spots labeled: "One Word," "Act It," and "Quote It."
Start the timer and GO! The goal is to collect one movie from each genre to win the game!
6. CLUE
This is one game that I grew up playing, almost religiously. It's so fun finding clues and solving the murder. There are also so many different versions to play. One of our favorites is the Star Wars Clue.
7. Marrying Mr. Darcy
This card game is great for all Janeites or those who love the Regency Era in general. Select the heroine you would like to play and start the Courtship Stage, collecting (based on your character) levels of wit, reputation, beauty, money...
Once all the cards are played through, move to the proposal stage. Roll for all the gentlemen that you qualify for and be sure not to end up an old maid!!! The person with the most points at the end of the game wins.
8. Forbidden: Desert/Forest/Island etc.
Another game I didn't think would be fun, but is so exciting I've found myself on the edge of my seat at times. You work together as a team, it's everyone versus the game itself! Each player has different abilities to help you get out of varying situations (based on the version of the game you've purchased) In one version you have to find these special artifacts and make it to the helicopter landing pad before the island floods. In another you are on a mission to locate parts and pieces to a vehicle that will help you escape a horrendous wind storm in the desert.
9. Pandemic
This is another co-op game that is nail-bitingly good. It also feels weird playing this game in a post pandemic world but I digress: All players have to keep the disease from breaking out further on the map.
10. Villainous
This one can feel challenging the first time you play it but you each have your own mini-board for the villain character you're playing as.
You each have your own objectives but have opportunities for actions to prevent other players from achieving their objectives!
